Plant-eater
8 feet long
Late Cretaceous, 80 million years ago
Mongolia
This sheep-sized plant-eater roamed Central Asia in large numbers. When first unearthed a century ago they were thought to be the earliest ancestors of the giant horned dinosaur of North America such as Triceratops. Now we know that even smaller ancestors of horned dinosaurs lived before Protoceratops and ran on just their hind legs.
